I’ve been adding so much new tech stuff to my life lately. Just within the last 1.5 years I have acquired or downloaded a boatload of things:
- Started with Amazon Prime while I still got the student discount. From there I became an online shopping connoisseur
- Ableton Push
- Amazon Fire TV
- All the apps that go on the Fire TV
- Samsung Link
- Popcorn Time
- Hype Machine
- Let’s not forget the social apps
- Fogetting Lots
Most of these are free. And I’m constantly adding new apps to my phone.
All of these apps offer a wide, unique array of neat things you can do with them. For example, I can watch my Netflix, YouTube, as well as Amazon Prime on my Amazon Fire TV.
I can stream movies wirelessly from my Popcorn Time app on my PC to the smart TV (my roommate purchased) using Samsung Link.
I’ve spent a lot of time (especially with samsung) getting these features to work. An inordinate amount of time.
I listen to Spotify, Hype Machine, and Soundcloud on my phone. And I could probably connect them to my TV I just haven’t figured that out yet.
See, I want to create an ecosystem, where you can walk into your home and it immediately becomes a media playground/heaven. No switching between software or devices. All apps and devices should be centrally managed.
I love listening to music. Always. I love to watch a movie when I’m done listening to music. I want to do both. On the same system. Samsung Link has a good idea going where you can keep your Photos, Music, and Videos that are located on your computer linked to your TV- and stream it wirelessly. It’s great.
I have felt overwhelmed lately (by my own choosing) with all the technology I have added to my life (again by my own choosing). I can’t remember which apps it’s that overwhelming. I think this demonstrates that it’s time for something universal. And simple. Like one of those universal remotes. Except more simple.
